Women's equality takes back seat, claims social activist

Former Executive Vice Chancellor of Lucknow University and social activist Dr Roop Rekha Verma said that the issue of women's equality has taken a back seat and the traditional image of men and women has been changed by the society, in which their power was snatched away by calling women as sensitive, sacrificial, and working for a service.Verma said it when she was delivering the keynote address at the National Women's Conference organized under the banner of the All India State Government Employees Federation here on Saturday. She said, Both these images are false. So men also have to break the traditional images. But men generally do not realize that their image has been wrongly created. However, women's struggles have broken these images, so women, men and the third sex should work together for full human values.Commenting on the present situation of the country, Verma said, Our country is going through a terrible phase. There was no such time even during the British period. Government protection is being given to those who weaken democracy, ignore the constitution and do mob lynching. Hooliganism and criminalization are increasing in the country. Not only this, notorious criminals and rapists are being released with the approval of the government. In such a situation, the issue of women's equality has taken a back seat.
